Groups of Discussion, let’s share!

Create or Search for a Group? Be creative…

The foundation and Action for Fair Future open discussion groups about the causes we are leading. But you also can create your own group about an idea or a project that you would like to develop, a cause that is close to your heart.

Each cause which deserves the opening of a group is administered by one of the members of our team on-site, generally, this is the Kawan (the person) who is in charge of the project cited in the title of each group.

Our will is to want to involve all the actors of the current project: It may be our volunteers, the builders, the architects, the members of our team on-site and of course the initiators of the project in question.

Transparency is one of the “trademarks” of the foundation and the crowdfunding platform that we have set up. So through these discussion groups, we want to share with you our experience, our successes, our frustrations and all these little things that we experience during the implementation of each project.

Everyone can participate, whether you are visitors (you must register first), actors in this project, supporter or sponsors. We expect words and exchanges from you in order to share your experience. This will help us to develop even more ideas because all of you are essential to the success of each project.

Thank you very much to all of you for your kindness and your great support.

Group | Drinking water. A luxury for all those who do not have access!
  • Public Group
  • [et_pb_section][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type="4_4"][et_pb_text]

    Water connects every aspect of life. Access to safe water and sanitation can quickly turn problems into potential!

    Lack of drinkable water means serious health problems. Rural communities are the first affected, diseases are increasing. Without drinking water, malnutrition worsens by a factor of 10. In Sumba, 60% of young children are underweight, malnourished or stunted. This leads to premature death in this young population. Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful. However, freshwater "the stuff we drink, bathe in, irrigate our farm fields with" is incredibly rare. Only 3% of the world’s water is freshwater, and two-thirds of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for our use. As a result, some 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to water, and a total of 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one month of the year. Inadequate sanitation is also a problem for 2.4 billion people. They are exposed to diseases, such as cholera and typhoid fever, and other water-borne illnesses. Two million people, mostly children, die each year from diarrheal diseases alone. [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
Group | Are poor people happier and why? Lets talk about it Kawan's
  • Public Group
  • Are the poorest people happier than the richest countries and communities?

    Why that? Often when we travel to the so-called "poor" countries, we often hear this saying: "-Look how poor they are and yet they seem happy...!"

    One fact is that the poorest depend more on others to get by. They really prioritize relationships because of their reduced resources, and so they are more likely to really focus on emotions that bind them to one another and find satisfaction and delight in relationships through compassion and love. As income increases, as you rise in the rankings of household income, your tendencies -- or daily experiences -- of pride, amusement, contentment go up, and your experience of compassion and love and awe go down.

    All of you can participate in this group and share your own opinion The simple fact of being part of this group and already for us great help. So do not hesitate to share and talk about it around you.

  • Provide basic healthcare to people who have no access to medical care, with one first aid kit per school!

    As part of our actions in East Sumba, when the basic needs for access to basic health care are not met, we begin simple, effective actions. Learning to treat minor injuries not to become more serious injuries, raises the importance of awareness about first aid, before being taken to the hospital for professional doctors treatment.  When first aid kit can be accessed easily, ensure that the people around it are safe.

    Kawan Baik Indonesia initiates a program to provide a first aid kit to each school or small village. This program started with a first crowdfunding campaign, which you can see here.

    The fundamental right to access to health care is not common here... This is not an acquired right!

    Humbly, the foundation provides free medical care and helps people in need access to this fundamental right, which is access to medical care and good health. Everywhere in Indonesia, the majority of people have no access to medical care, 90% of people don’t have health insurance. Indonesia's health system is failing to provide even the most basic care to vast swathes of the population.

    Since years now, the Fair Future Foundation have already cared & treated dozens of thousands of poor, sick, disabled, disadvantaged human beings per year, without consideration of race, religion, origin, age, colour. Have a look at this campaign here kawan's!

  • Help the village to rebuild the classes, then more than 60 kids ages from 8 to 10yo, will go back to school. #BangunMbunuNdita

    The school we are looking after in Mbinundita (Sumba East) was completely destroyed by a storm on December 18, 2019. The Foundation, therefore, undertook to rebuild it before the end of March 2020. More than 50 children from this very remote area, have no more school and we all cry, simply because it is a real drama for this whole rural community, which lives without direct access to water and without electricity. We took this school under our wing in November 2019, touched by the poverty and the kindness of this extraordinary population.

    Kawan Baik Indonesia and Fair Future Foundation initiate the rebuilding of the entire school. We already collect some good money to start the project. Our goal is to finish the rebuilding in less than 3 months, so before the end of March 2020.

    All of you can participate in this group and give us suggestions, comments or help in any form. The simple fact of being part of this group and already for us great help. So do not hesitate to share and talk about it around you.

Aim

We start to rebuild in February 2020 and launching in March 2020!

Before the storm, this school consisted of two classrooms (1st and 2nd year), perched on the top of a hill. This school also has no water, no electricity. These children don’t have enough to eat and now, no more school!

The people have absolutely no money to rebuild it. This small school structure was built because these kids live far too far from the nearest primary school, located more than 8 kilometres away by foot. The school before were very simple with split bamboo walls, black sand floors with a tin roof and reeds.

How

The school to be constructed will use Superior House Instant Panel System (RUSPIN), it’s a prefabricated frame housing technology using a bolt connection system. RUSPIN is the development of RISHA technology. This technology is suitable to be applied in almost all regions of Indonesia, especially in earthquake-prone areas.

  • Rebuild a building as well as an “art class”, teachers’ room, toilets. All in a permanent, solid, simple and practical building;
  • Provide 20/30 sets of school tables and chairs, which will be used in classrooms;
  • Build appropriate toilets for children;
  • Install solar panels to provide electricity to the school;
  • Install a water tank to collect rainwater, for clean water supplies;
  • Acquire the books and textbooks for the K-13 elementary study programs and the teaching tools based on levels 1 and 2.

Why

By reconstructing a new school, the Foundation offers the continuity of educational activity in Mbinundita. Consequently, these children aged 8 to 10 years old can return to school. This village is located about 2.5 hours by car from the bigger city of Sumba. This population is far from any form of civilization. It is essential for them that the school can be rebuilt as soon as possible!

  • Building a new school also means improving what previously existed. By also improving the quality of school facilities, the foundation will improve safety, health and learning behaviours;
  • Offer new possibilities for continuous learning programs, with the new facilities, the new school, and the new tools that will take place there;
  • Develop the enthusiasm of children to learn in joy and safety at school thanks to the new school;
  • Provide access to adequate sanitation facilities at the school.

The following program timeline schedule

  • Survey: January 12th 2020
  • Designing & budgeting: January 15th 2020
  • Material preparation: February 1st 2020
  • Building preparation: February 10th 2020
  • Building finishing: 28th February 2020
  • finishing & launching preparation: March 2020
  • Launching: March 15th 2020
  • Monitoring, evaluation & program report: March 30th 2020

Thank you very much for your concrete help and your love, to offer to these children and their teachers for this new school.

Provide basic medical care to all children who have no access to medical care, with one first aid kit per school!

#FirstAidKit #KawanBaikSumba #KawanBaikIndonesia #KawanSehat #FairFutureFoundation

Aim

As part of our actions in East Sumba, when the basic needs for access to basic health care are not met, we begin simple, effective actions. Learning to treat minor injuries not to become more serious injuries, raises the importance of awareness about first aid, before being taken to the hospital for professional doctors treatment.  When first aid kit can be accessed easily, ensure that the people around it are safe.

Why

The foundation for years has to deal with complicated health situations, sometimes even extreme. The main reason is that access to medical care is impossible for 75% of the 750,000 inhabitants of Sumba. The lack of medical facilities, the difficulty of the Indonesian health system and the poverty of families are the main reasons for this finding.

How

We will equip schools and common areas with a comprehensive pharmacy kit to treat the everyday woes and injuries that children experience on their way to school.

These first-aid kits (which will actually be small medical cabinets) will consist of disinfecting, dressing, changing a wound, cleaning a wound, making a tourniquet, cutting torn nails, and providing basic follow-up for all these children, who hurt themselves and who do not heal.

The foundation will offer the necessary teaching to local school teachers, who are very happy to be able to help the children and all those and all who will need it.

Another approach to defining needs, describe the socio-culture conditions. A project made by children for their environment!

#SumbaPhotoStories #KawanBaikSumba #KawanBaikIndonesia #Act4fairfuture #FairFutureFoundation

Aim

Introduce the children about photography learning and hone their confidence to tell stories through their eyes, get input and evaluation that can motivate changes in daily behaviour. This project is also an opportunity to be able to explore villages, explore local potential, including identifying problems that need immediate treatment.

Nevertheless, it is sometimes a difficult process to define what the real problems are, to decide what should be prioritised, and to find the most effective method to solve the issues. The Foundation initiates a photography project, through which we attempt to do the process in a creative way by engaging local children and understanding their problems through their perspective.

Why

When we visited Sumba, we met children who were cheerful and happy, even though they lived in villages that were not electrified, far from school, and far from access to health facilities. We can learn and listen from the perspective of children in telling stories through photos of their lives in their villages. Children have innocent and spontaneous characters, so we can get honest and unique stories of their own environmental conditions.

How

Sumba Photo Project will be one of our brainchildren. In this project, we will teach local children about photography, including how to use a camera, take photos with good angle and composition, and subsequently making good stories out of their photos.

We will lend them cameras and let them take pictures of anything in their surroundings as we continue to hone their photography skills through a series of training. The photos will capture real problems in their environment, which are interpreted through the children’s genuine point of view.
