How does it work?

Action for Fair Future is a site created by a Swiss foundation (State Approved and Tax Exempted) dedicated to providing help, support, logistical and social advice, visibility to all official organisations that need it.

For your fundraising to be successful, we recommend that you set a fundraising goal to reach, within the deadline set by yourself.

Rewards (or counterparties) against donation are prohibited by Swiss foundation laws.

Your donors are committed for the sole purpose of helping your social project to materialise.

It’s up to you to convince them!

The basics before launching your crowdfunding campaign

Are you about to launch a crowdfunding campaign? Discover our best pieces of advice to prepare your campaign and draft your project page.

Setting your campaign goal

Before launching your campaign, you must set a funding goal, either an amount of money or a number of units. Before setting your goal, keep in mind that your campaign will follow the “all or nothing rule”: if you don’t reach your goal by the end of the campaign, all your contributors are refunded. You can, however, exceed your goal.

Tips: The goal must equate to the minimum amount needed to carry out your project.

Setting the duration of your campaign

The campaign duration is how long you think you need to raise as many funds as possible. It can range between 1 and 60 days. Once your campaign has started, you can’t change its duration.

Tips: We recommend campaigns that ran for 15 to 75 days. This duration has a 10% higher success rate.

What are the main steps to start my campaign?

  • I set the amount I want to raise and the estimated time to reach it (up to 75 days);
  • I fill-in my project’s presentation page;
  • I receive advice from a Kawan Baik form Action for fair future to boost my campaign and maximise my chances of success;
  • When I am ready, I launch my project and reach out to my communities
  1. Choose a short and precise project name, which clearly and precisely summarises your project;
  2. Choose an attractive catchphrase to drive people to learn more about the project;
  3. Use a customised and representative video, GIF or image to introduce your project;
  4. Draft a structured text that answers these 4 questions: What, why, who and when?;
  5. Clearly detail how the funds collected will be used, for what purposes, for what facilities. If you have documents that summarize the cost of your project, join them. Donors want transparency and foundations will only defend your cause if it is honest and verified.
  6. Highlight your campaign with photos that reflect your project, the issues you want to solve, the people involved. Do not use images that are not “royalty free” but photos that you or your team have taken.
  7. Connect your campaign to your other online profiles: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, website, etc…

Facebook pixel integration, for more targeted advertising

You want to advertise on social media to reach your community or target new donors? We suggest you install a Facebook pixel on your campaign page. This little script allows you to do retargeting: with your ads, target the users who visited your campaign page but have not yet made a pledge! You can also use this pixel to track your ads’ effectiveness.

Offer direct access to your campaign on your website

We have developed a widget/direct access window to your project page, which you can easily integrate to your website using a line of code.

Part of your campaign page interface will appear on your site, featuring the campaign visuals, a small description and a button to learn more.

Tips: You can find this widget/direct access window on your main campaign page! This iframe code looks like this:

<iframe> the content of the application </iframe>

You just have to copy and paste it inside your website. People will interact with your campaign on Action for Fair Future and will see how your cause is great!

  • Individual (natural person)
  • Foundation recognized of pure public utility
  • Legally registered association

How to submit my project?

First click on the blue button “Start your Project”.

To submit your project to Action for Fair Future, you must complete the editing steps of your project page.

If all the steps below have been completed, the “Submit for validation” button will appear!

Your project publication request will only be saved if an email address or telephone number has been provided. So if you wish to proceed in several stages, fill in the essential data requested either: Email or telephone number.
You can, therefore, come back to it in order to complete it when you wish.

Note: Requests for publications stored on our servers that are more than 30 days old will be deleted for reasons of confidentiality.

Who can edit a project page?

For security reasons (and for the moment), only the collaborators of the foundation are authorized to modify your project.

All modifications can be submitted to us by email using the form dedicated to modifications, or by sending us an email via our contact form or the simplest, via the “chat” tab on the site which is located in the lower left corner of each page.

I submitted my project for validation, how long does it take before it is validated by the Foundation?

As soon as you click on “Submit your Project”, one of the Kawan Baik receives it directly.

The Kawan that will accompany you begins by studying your project. He then comes back to you within 48 hours (working days) to offer you advice.

Everything will then depend on the information you have submitted to us: Have you given enough details? Put pictures that represent it well? Suggested a catchy title? A project can start after 2 days or after a month, depending on the improvements to be made, which will be suggested to you by one of the Foundation’s Kawan Baik.

Throughout your journey, we offer advice to help you propose a convincing and representative page of your project. The more you follow your Kawan, the more likely you are that your project page will be quickly validated.

Is there a limit for the collection goal?

No, the regulations in force impose no limit on the amount collected.

However, we advise project managers to opt for the objective which corresponds to the minimum amount necessary for carrying out the project.

Better to define a goal that you can exceed rather than taking the risk of not achieving it. However, we draw your attention to inform you that the Foundation reserves the right to verify that the amounts which have been collected via Action for Fair Future must be used only within the framework of your project.

NOTE: The Foundation reserves the right to verify how the funds that have been given to you have been spent on your social project only.

What is the maximum duration of a campaign on Action for Fair Future?

Your campaigns have no time limits. It is up to you to set the duration that you think is necessary to reach your goal and collect a maximum of funds.

We nevertheless recommend a period of 60-75 days for a fundraising campaign dedicated to a project with social goals.

Just because a campaign lasts longer doesn’t mean it’s more likely to succeed. The sense of urgency will stimulate your contacts. Note that the shortest campaigns are often the most dynamic and therefore more likely to reach their goal.

Indeed, we often see a peak in activity at the start and end of the campaign. It’s up to you to communicate well about the cause and therefore your crowdfunding during these key periods!

NOTE: The Foundation reserves the right to verify how the funds that have been given to you have been spent on your social project only.

Can I write my project in another language?

Yes of course yes! You can choose to write your project in other languages. The foundation will automatically translate it into English and French.

This translation will be verified and corrected by one of the foundation’s Kawan Baik, as part of the preparation, verification, integration and dissemination of your campaign across all of our social networks as well as of course our platform.

How to resize an image to upload on my project request form?

Having trouble uploading your image? It can happen, don’t panic! It is certainly a problem related to its size, its weight or the format of your image.

  • Tip: Allowed formats are JPEG, PNG
  • Tip: The size of your image must not exceed 1.5 MB
  • Tip: Format 16/9 – Minimum recommended width is 1024 (x576) pixels, and the optimal dimensions for the cover visual are 1280×720 pixels.

We can recommend that you visit https://www.iloveimg.com/. Once your image is loaded on this platform, you can easily compress, resize or convert it to another format (we also use this site regularly).

As a reminder, the criteria of our platform are as follows:

For the aesthetics of the site (we care a lot), we only publish images in 16/9 format. If your images do not respect this format, they will be cropped.

If the problem still persists, we invite you to contact our Support team directly at take@actionforfairfuture.org or by chat at the bottom of the page on the left.

Can I modify my project once my campaign is online?

Yes, but not all of the information!

You can make a request to modify the detailed description of your project as you wish (description of the project, extract, photos, summary, biography – about you – and title).

However, you cannot change the rules of the game: The amount and the collection period can no longer be changed along the way. The foundation is fair as is the name it bears. A project is reflected, though, planed…

This crucial information must really be thought out before we submit your project.

If you have a request in this sense, contact your Kawan Bail directly by email or by chat at the bottom of the page, on the left.

Under what conditions can I offer PayPal as a payment method?

PayPal is the payment solution used for campaigns outside Europe, in Canadian dollars, Australian dollars and British pounds.

As a carrier, I must have a PayPal Business and Verified account

If we activate the PayPal solution for your collection, you must, as a project leader, have a PayPal account which is:

  • Business: you will need a “business” type account, for more information, you can consult the dedicated page on PayPal.
  • Verified: it is necessary to confirm your bank account linked to that of PayPal: For more information, you can consult the dedicated article on their site.

Project leaders must keep in mind four (4) important points before asking to Action for Fair Future to activate payment via PayPal for its collection:

  1. The maximum objective of a campaign using PayPal is CHF 40,000.-
  2. Almost 10% of the contributions collected during the campaign are lost. Some PayPal accounts are insufficiently funded or the bank card may be expired or in opposition. As the transactions are only debited at the end of the collection – unlike credit card payments – we will only be able to realize this at that time.
  3. This payment solution costs more. The Action fo Fair Future commission for PayPal payments is 5% inclusive of tax, but PayPal applies its own costs which are taken directly from the funds received, up to 3.4% + € 0.25 per transaction.
  4. This makes a total cost of 8.4% + € 0.25 per transaction via PayPal, against 8% by bank card.

IMPORTANT: A first disbursement is made when the project is successful and completed. For non-disbursed transactions, one (1) disbursement attempt is made per week for 4 weeks, i.e. 5 attempts since the end of the campaign.

How can I change my details?

Do you want to change your pseudo, your e-mail address, your password or even your postal address? Here’s the procedure to follow!

To do so, simply go to your User Settings  on Action for Fair Future and update it.

Once on your Settings, fill in your new information and click on the “Update Account” button.

If your mailing address has recently changed after your contribution, don’t panic! It is possible to modify it directly on your “Users Settings “. It will then automatically update in the dashboard of the project manager.

However, if you want to make sure that the project owner has received your new contact details, consider sending them a message.

What happens when a project does not reach the target on Action for Fair Future?

The foundation believes that your project is not only present on our platform. In this sense, your objective which is for example to collect $ 10,000.- may be achieved thanks to donations that you or your organization will have received via the bank account of your legal entity. And it is so.

We also encourage you to disseminate your project to your partners if you have them or like us at the Foundation, to ours.

Example: If you collect $ 3,000.- out of the requested $ 10,000.-, then we are proud to have given you a helping hand in reaching your goal of helping as many people as possible.

However, don’t forget that the Foundation reserves the right to ask you how you used the funds received through our funding platform. In addition, if you are a little short in terms of funding, we can, in exceptional cases, help you in one way or another. If we can!

To conclude: You will receive the full amount of funds that we have collected together, minus the Action for Fair Future fees linked to the banking institutions with which we are partners!

What personal information is transmitted to the project leader?

Only your personal details entered during your contribution to the project (name, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number) are sent to the project holder.

All other information remains totally confidential, including your bank information, secured by our payment providers.

What happens if a project reaches its objective before the planned end date?

Fundraising continues until the end of the date set. The objective can, therefore, be exceeded!

Generally, project leaders opt for the minimum objective that will allow them to make their project a reality: Any bonus is, therefore, good to take!

When a creator exceeds 100%, he usually informs you of the new goal to be achieved and what this additional sum would allow him to achieve.

Who are we?

In early 2006, Alex Wettstein found the Fair Future Foundation, an independent, Swiss, non-profit organisation, committed to managing and funding socio-medical programs in South East Asia.

We realised that most crowdfunding websites offered a bit of everything. We believe that socio-medical causes or actions aimed at developing natural renewable energies, problems of access to education or knowledge, should not be mixed with personal or individual causes.

We create Action for Fair Future allow public institutions, not-for-profit organisations, but also groups of young people with a common goal and individuals with a social project, carrying projects, to exhibit their actions and projects and conduct their own campaigns.

Action for Fair Future is dedicated to providing help, support, logistical and social advice, visibility to all official organisations that need it. Action for Fair Future platform will help you develop your own actions, those that you will dedicate to humans and humanity.

How is Action for Fair Future paid?

The Foundation charges a commission only if the collection is successful. The amount of this commission is 10% inclusive of tax. This is split in two, between the foundation (7%) and our secure payment provider (3%) – Stripe.

The tax status of the Swiss Foundation is “Foundation”.
Therefore, this commission is used to fund the Foundation’s own projects and in no case for personal purposes.

Our commission, taken from the entire amount collected, provides personalised support for your project by a team coach, hosting and referencing your collection on our platform and access to our “Base Camp” at Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia) to organise an event, depending on the schedule and availability.

Support the Foundation and all of its programs, become a bronze, silver, golden or platinum Kawan!

This is an amount that you can choose according to your means, your desire, your heart too. In return we offer you what we can, we are not rich but the idea is to offer something in return. This could be an original T-shirt from the foundation, access to one of our original image banks, but also the possibility of getting involved as a human being in the activities of the foundation. We need you, your ideas, your views, your expertise too! And if you go through our Base Camp, then a good meal will be shared with us.
